Alex | Newbury

When Alex commissioned me to take some natural portrait shots, we opted to shoot around the Kennet & Avon canal, close to where Alex and her husband live. So, despite the threat of rain from some very ominous looking clouds. We set off on a picturesque circular walk cutting across the path of both the river and canal near Newbury. Thankfully it stayed fine and the golden evening light coupled with those dark skies, certainly added a little drama to the final pictures. I’ve included just a few of my favourites from the shoot and I hope you like them as much as Alex and I do.

Perry & James | Aldermaston Wharf

Perry owns and operates a successful beauty salon in Caversham, Reading. So, when she asked my partner, a regular customer at the salon, if i would be interested in taking some photographs of herself and boyfriend James. I of course said yes. So, one glorious Sunday morning Perry and James came over to Aldermaston Wharf and we set off along the canal. I’ve chosen to show the resulting images in B&W because Perry liked the B&W conversions a lot. I think they work, but let me know what you think.

Rachael & Roger | Holbrook House

Rachael and Roger were married on the 9th of July 2011, at Holbrook House, Nr Wincanton, Somerset. It was an intimate wedding with close family members in attendance, which made for a relaxed and personal day. Despite an early down pour, the sun shined and they made their vows in a quaint, bijou garden room in the grounds. It was just large enough to accommodate the B&G, the Registrar, her assistant and a desk; with yours truly looking in from a side door. The wedding guests sat outside on chairs dressed in white covers with large ribbon bows tied on the back. The whole day went without a hitch and was a calm and relaxed affair, and I think this is reflected in the images captured.

The Broome Family | On Holiday in Berkshire

Catie, Thomas are friends of ours who live near Stockholm in Sweden. So, when Catie commissioned me to take some family pictures whilst they were in the UK on holiday, I was thrilled. The weather stayed dryish on the day they visited and we set off for a walk in the Berkshire countryside, with the intention of getting some exercise and capturing the images Catie & Thomas wanted. Catie and Thomas specifically didn’t want studio style portraits, but preferred natural outdoor shots taken using the available ambient light. Being Swedish, Thomas opted for an impromptu swim in the river on the way back, but unfortunately the images are a little too sensitive for this publication.
